Die Toten
Hosen are a German Punk-Rock band from Düsseldorf. It is composed of: Campino (voice),
Kuddel and Breiti (guitars), Andi (bass), and Wölli (drums). Their real names are Andreas
Frege, Andreas von Holst, Andreas Breitkopf, Andreas Meurer, and Wolfgang Rohde.
They have published many successful Cds : Opel Gang, Battle of the Bands, All die ganzen Jahre-Raritäten ‘79-84, Here’s the Roten Rosen, Ein kleines bisschen Horrorschau, Unter falscher Flagge, Learning English lesson one , Bis zum bittren Ende, Damenwahl, Kauf mich, Reich und sexy, Love, sex and money, Opium fürs Volk , Im Auftrag des Herrn and Wir warten aufs Christkind . Of course they have also pubilished a lot of singles.
Now they have existed for nearly 20 years but before they joined this band, they also played in different bands.Trini (their manager) played with KFC , Campino with ZK, Kuddel also played with ZK, and Breiti still went to school. Wölli jointed later.Campino also writes a lot of their lyrics.
But the Toten Hosen
isn’ t only a Punk -Rock band: They also speak up for foreigners and environmental
problems. With songs like Sascha...ein aufrechter Deutscher they revolutionized a whole
nation. Or on the 20th March 1998 they took part in a demonstration against the transport
of radioactive waste in which Campino was wounded.
They had their great
breakthrough by publishing the album “Ein kleines bisschen Horrorschau” because
most of its songs were written for the film “Clockwork Orange”. Their first
album was published in 1983 (Opel Gang) . Now they have already given over one thousand
concerts but during their 1000th concert there was a very tragical and dramatic accident.
During this concert fans rocked and jumped and, unfortunately, didn’t realize that
they were crushing a 16-year-old girl from the Netherlands. Afterwards Die Toten Hosen
were so shocked that they wanted to stop playing ever again. But fortunately they
didn’ t.
Now they are the most successful German band in the whole world. Even in Japan and
China they have a lot of fans so they made a world tour recently. 
I think some of their songs are very interesting and contain a lot of truth but there are also a lot of drinking songs like: Eisgekühlter Bommerlunder or Damenwahl. My favourite songs are: Alles aus Liebe, Mein grösster Feind , All die ganzen Jahre, Bye bye Alex and If the kids are united.
